Founded in 1728 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, Jaipur is a labyrinth of fascinating bazaars, opulent palaces resplendent with tales of valour and bravery. The colourful bazaars, the ambling camels and cheerful people is an universe initself that draws every traveller. The bazaars of Jaipur have a timeless appeal and one cannot help but admire the beauty of Rajasthani handlooms, handicrafts and items made of came leather. Jaipur is internationally known for its gemstones and jewelry. Other items to look for in Jaipur are Stone Craft Marble, sandstone articles and traditional miniature paintings.
Close to Jaipur are other interesting places to visit like the mausoleum of the great Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti at Ajmer and the abode of Lord Bhrama at Pushkar, also famous for the grand Pushkar fair. Ranthambore National Park is also approachable from Jaipur. |

| Hawa Mahal : |

The ornamental facade of this "Palace of Winds" is a prominent landmark in Jaipur. The palace has 953 niches and windows. Built in 1799 the Mahal was a royal grandstand for the palace women. |

A delightful blend of Mughal and traditional Rajasthani architecture, the City Palace sprawls over one-seventh of the area in the walled city. It houses the Chandra Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple and the City Palace Museum. |

| Amber Fort Palace : |
At a short distance from Jaipur is the Amber Fort Palace at Amber, the former capital of the Kachhawah's, the historic rulers of this region. Built in red sandstone and white marble, the interiors boast of expressive paintings that come alive with carvings and precious stones & mirror settings. The fort is divided in four sections and one of the ways of reaching the top is by riding royally on a caparisoned elephant on the broad aisle. |

This is the largest and the best preserved of the five observatories built by Jai Singh II in different parts of the country. This observatory consisting of outsized astronomical instruments is still in use. |

Combining the elements of English and north Indian architecture known the structure of Albert Hall is known as the pride of the New Jaipur and was opened in 1887 AD. Sanganer is also a center of handmade paper and of Jaipur's renowned hand painted Blue pottery, of which vases and tiles with delicate Persian Turkish and Indian designs are made. |

It is located 30 kms away from Jaipur on the Ajmer Road and is well known for its Bagru prints. This technique simulates a wooden block on which the required design is first carved, then the carved block is used for transferring the motif in the desired colour on the fabric. |

Airport nearest to Jaipur is Sanganer Airport, which is hardly 10 km from the city. Domestic flights connect Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jodhpur and Udaipur to Jaipur. However, there is only one international flight to Dubai.
