Welcome to the mesmerizing Maharashtra experience aboard the luxurious The Indian Maharaja - Deccan Odyssey. Everything in the train reflects the ways of Indian Royalty - "Maharaja". The plush interiors, an awesome cuisine and great sites to see makes the journey memorable. The weeklong The Indian Maharaja - Deccan Odyssey tour includes several exotic destinations covering the vast expanse of Maharashtra and North India. Covering Mumbai, Aurangabad, Udaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Jaipur, Agra and Delhi in a span of 7Nights and 8Days.

The Indian Maharaja - Deccan Odyssey has 21 coaches out of which 11 are passenger cars with 4 coupes each. There are 2 Presidential Suite Cars with 2 coupes per car. The train also has a conference car (can be redesigned as dance floor in the night) and two restaurant cars. There is also a lounge/bar car and one surprising addition is a Spa Car. Apart from the above there are generator cars with luggage store and staff car or spare car.

The Itinerary starting from Mumbai
Meet and greet at 1600 hrs at Victoria Terminus (now called as Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus) Railway Station to board the train. Dinner and overnight on board the train.The train travels from Mumbai to Daulatabad (Aurangabad).

Aurangabad : ( Day 02 – Thu )

After breakfast on board, proceed for sightseeing of Ellora Caves (22 kms/1 hr). Ellora is one of the highly visited World heritage sites of India. It has some of the excellent stonework depicting the legends related to Lord Shiva as well as Brahmanism, Jainism and Buddhism. Lunch at a City Hotel.
Then drive to Ajanta (100 kms / 3 hrs) for sightseeing. Ajanta - caves, located deep within the Sahyadri hills above the Waghora, depict the story of Buddhism that prevailed here during 200 BC to 650 AD.

Later, drive to Jalgaon railway station to board the train (55 kms / 1hour 30min). Dinner on board the train which then leaves for overnight journey to Udaipur.

Udaipur: ( Day 03 – Fri )

Arrive Udaipur, Late brunch on board the train. Set on the shores of Lake Pichola and surrounded by hills, Udaipur grew in complete contrast to the harsh deserts of the rest of Rajasthan. Proceed for Sightseeing Tour of Udaipur City. In the evening take a cruise on Lake Pichola, followed by a Gala Dinner at a city hotel.
After dinner, board the train for overnight stay. The train travels overnight to Sawai Madhopur.

Sawai Madhopur: ( Day 04 – Sat )

Morning Jungle Safari at Ranthambore National Park by Non Air conditioned (Canter) Ranthambore National Park is an outstanding example of Project Tiger’s efforts at conservation in the country. Afternoon Jungle safari by Non Air Conditioned Canter. All meals on board the train.
Overnight on board the train which then travels on an overnight journey to Jaipur.

After lunch move on to see the Bibi-ka-Maqbara - a replica of Taj Mahal and a grand piece of Moghul architecture. Optional: Back to train. Free time for shopping Paithani, Himroo, Bidriwork from showrooms for a perfect memorabilia.


Jaipur: ( Day 05 – Sun )
Arrive Jaipur. The city of victory, Jaipur presides over the fascinating desert state, a formidable fort and beautiful palaces, mansions and gardens dot throughout its precincts. After breakfast on board, you will be driven just outside Jaipur to the ancient capital of Amber to see the fabulous Amber Fort. An elephant (alternatively by jeeps) will spare you the trouble of reaching up to the fortress. En-route to Amber see the `Palace of Winds’, otherwise known as Hawa Mahal. It is really an elaborate facade behind which the ladies of the court used to watch the daily goings on in the street below.

In the afternoon, you will visit the city of Jaipur. Among the highlights to be seen while touring Jaipur include the City Palace, walk to the adjacent Jantar Mantar or Astronomical Observatory made by the Maharaja of Jaipur. You will also have the opportunity to wander about the local markets.
Lunch and Dinner on board train. Train leaves for Bharatpur on overnight journey.

Agra: ( Day 06 – Mon )

Arrival early in the morning in Bharatpur. After breakfast on board drive to Agra via Fatehpur Sikri - the deserted red sandstone city, built by the Great Mughal Emperor Akbar as his capital and palace. Later visit Taj Mahal, built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as an expression of his love for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is truly one of the wonders of the world. Also visit Agra fort - an outstanding example of Mughal architecture. Lunch, dinner and overnight on board the train which leaves for Delhi.


Delhi: ( Day 07 – Tue )
Breakfast on board. Later, proceed for sightseeing of Delhi with lunch at city hotel.You will first visit Old Delhi. The tour will begin with a visit to Raj Ghat, a simple memorial to Mahatma Gandhi;

Delhi: ( Day 01 – Wed )

In the morning, welcome meeting at hotel. Later, proceed for sightseeing of Delhi with lunch at city hotel. You will first visit Old Delhi. Ahmedabad: ( Day 06 –Mon)


After Breakfast sight seeing at Ahmadabad. Emperor Jehangir sneered that Ahmadabad was actually Gardabad (The City of Dust). But a Muslim historian Muhammad Qasim Firishta said that it was on the whole, the handsomest city in Hindoostan. Both statements contain a grain of truth. Ahmadabad is a dusty, noisy, chaotic city. It is also very beautiful, its mosques marked with delightful minarets, elaborate tracery and infinite attention to detail.

You will first visit Teen Darwaza - a triple gateway 37 feet high built by Sultan Ahmed. Next Jamma Masjid – which is one of the biggest and oldest mosques for Friday prayers. Built by Sultan Ahmed Shah in 1423, the mosque is situated in the centre of the old city. You will also visit Shaking minarets & Jain Temple. Lunch, dinner and overnight on board train. Train leaves for Jalgaon in the evening.


Aurangabad: ( Day 07 –Tue)


After breakfast on board, proceed by bus to Ajanta (55 kms / 1hour 30min). Ajanta - caves, located deep within the Sahyadri hills above the Waghora, depict the story of Buddhism that prevailed here during 200 BC to 650 AD. Then drive to Aurangabad for lunch at city hotel (100 kms/3 hrs).

Sightseeing of Aurangabad visiting Bibi Ka Maqbara , Panchakki. Bibi Ka Maqbara - Modelled on the Taj Mahal, Aurangabad's Mughal tomb garden was built by Prince Azam Khan in memory of his mother, Begum Rabia Daurani. Panchakki , the word Panchakki literally means water mill. Transfer to Daulatabad (15 kms/30 mnts). Upon arrival board on train. Dinner on Board.
Later evening departure for Mumbai on an overnight journey.


Leave Mumbai: ( Day 08 –Wed)
Morning - Arrival at CST - Mumbai. Enjoy the breakfast on board as the sun rises over the commercial capital of India. Alight at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in the morning, the royal journey is over, but the memory of which, will live on forever. Journey ends.
